Band Notes – December 12, 2022

Coming up:

December 21 – Winter Band Concert, 7pm.  The concert will take place on the stage of the new gym in the high school.

December 24-January 6 – Winter break.

Winter Band Concert

The Marcellus Music Department invites you all to their Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 21.  The concert will begin at 7pm with the High School Jazz Class, followed by the 6th Grade beginning band, Middle School band and High School Concert Band.  The concert is free and open to the public.  Specific information for each band is as follows:

● HS Band and Jazz Class members need to report at 6pm.  Dress code for the evening: concert black.

● 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band members need to report at 6:30pm.  Dress code for MS Band is concert black.  Dress code for the 6th grade band is business casual (a detailed letter regarding the concert was mailed to 6th grade parents last week).

6th Grade Band

6th Grade band members are responsible for completing practice cards for the 2nd marking period.   Practice cards are a homework assignment and are 25% of each marking period grade.  Students are assigned 70 minutes of practice time each week and it is a time management tool for young learners.  Practice cards will be handed out every Monday and are due the following Monday.  After the practice session and cards are completed they are to be signed by an adult who supervised the practice session and then returned to Miss Essex.  

HS Solo and Ensemble

HS students participating in the February 11 District 6 Solo and Ensemble at SMC should begin signing up for practice sessions with Miss Essex.  The rehearsal schedule is now posted on the band room office window.  Just a reminder, participants MUST rehearse with Miss Essex a minimum of three times before the festival date.
