Community Invited to Healing Steps Forward Virtual Vigil

February 1, 2022 By Marcellus News Leave a Comment

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Bronson Healthcare invites community members to join in a Healing Steps Forward Virtual Vigil in honor and remembrance of all those impacted by COVID-19. In the nearly two years since the pandemic reached our communities, many people have experienced anxiety, loss, grief and trauma. This vigil is a chance for our staff to come together, along with the community, to grieve, provide support and move forward on a path to healing.

“We know that for many of our staff and community members impacted by the COVID-19 virus, these have been some of the most challenging months of their careers and lives,” says Bill Manns, president and CEO of Bronson Healthcare. “Being together can provide a path to healing mentally and emotionally. We hope this vigil will allow people the opportunity to make meaningful steps on that healing journey.”

The vigil will be held on Tuesday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend may log on by visiting bronsonvirtualvigil.com. People are encouraged to visit the site anytime from now through the vigil to light a virtual candle and share a message. Some of the messages will be shared during the live vigil.

The vigil will include the live lighting of three candles: one in remembrance of those who have died; one for those who are grieving or experiencing pain or worry; and one to honor those who have cared for others with kindness and compassion. In addition to the lighting ceremony, there will be a poem, music, a video and thoughts shared by staff and community members.

“This pandemic has been and continues to be such a draining and difficult experience for so many in our communities,” says Dr. Melissa Davidson, a member of Bronson’s Healing Steps Forward task force. “This vigil will give our staff, patients and families, and our community the space to pause and reflect and start to heal together.”
