Daniel B Jones

May 29, 1936 ~ October 11, 2024

Daniel B Jones passed away on October 11, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on May 29, 1936, the son of Carroll B. and Mary Romig Jones of Marcellus.

   Dan was a lifelong resident of Marcellus, graduating from Marcellus High School in 1954.  He was employed by the Romig/Mater Funeral Home and then worked for many years at the G.W. Jones Exchange Bank, retiring in 2001. 

   Dan loved the community of Marcellus and supported it in many ways throughout his life.  He was a member of the Marcellus Township Wood Memorial Library Board from 1984-96, served on the Village Council for 12 years, held numerous positions in the Marcellus United Methodist Church, was a member of Marcellus Rotary and the Lions Club.  He was a longtime supporter of Marcellus High School sports and music programs, the Fire Department and the Food Pantry. He often volunteered his time to help with community events, including serving for many years on the planning committee for the Bluegill Frolic. One of his favorite volunteer activities was acting as Santa’s Helper during the town’s annual Christmas in the Village. 

   Dan is survived by his brother Cordell (Kay) Jones, his sister Suzanne (Peter) Boutin and his nephew, nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.

   Interment has taken place at Bly Cemetery, Marcellus.  The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
