The Varsity baseball team traveled to Lawrence, Saturday, June 3, for district play against the #5 ranked Decatur Raiders. This was the third meeting between the squads this season, with Decatur holding a two-games to none advantage going into Districts.
The Wildcats struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Decatur and suffered a 15-0 loss. The Raiders’ Brandon Bruno took the win for Decatur, surrendering zero runs on zero hits over four innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Nate Mihills took the loss for Marcellus lasting three innings, allowing eight hits and 13 runs while striking out one. Dawsen Lehew threw in relief.
The Wildcats completed the 2023 season with a 10-19 record.
