Jack was born April 10, 1944, in Lawrence, MI to Ben and Kathern (Goodrich) Cook. Although he left school at an early age, Jack was a proud recipient of his GED later in life. He worked in several different places throughout the years, beginning at Rudy and Sunstrand in Dowagiac, and retiring from Minute Maid in Paw Paw. In his younger years, you’d often find Jack out hunting or fishing, but as he grew older, and his family grew bigger, the most important thing for Jack was spending time with them. Whether it was teaching them to fish, watching their sporting events, or watching professional sports together, Jack’s favorite pastime was spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was “the” number one Michigan sports fan and loved to poke at the fans of his rivals, which was often also family! U of M sports, the Detroit Tigers and Lions were among his favorite to watch. He also was an avid sports card collector.
Jack will be missed dearly by his wife of 61 years, Adelia (Johnson) Cook, whom he married on May 11, 1963 in Decatur; his children, April (J.R.) Morrison, Patricia (Rick Landis) Nolan, and Steven (Paula) Cook; his grandchildren, Sarah, Stacey, Nathan (Tori), Christopher, Nora, Justin, Brittany (Roger), Amanda (Charles), Dillon, and Chad; and his great grandchildren, Janayla, Makayla, Matilynn, Ben, Matthew, Zoey, Julianna, Roman, Landon, Sawyer, Carson, Taylor, Gregory, Charlie, and Camden.
Jack is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda, and seven lost little angels; his siblings, Louise (Burdell) Flowers, Shirley (Junior) Lillie, Junior (Judy) Cook, Wesley (Helen) Cook, and William Cook; and his parents.
