Marcellus Middle School Welcomes New Social Worker

February 22, 2022 By Nanette Pauley Leave a Comment

The Marcellus Community Schools Board approved the hire of a new social worker during the regular meeting of February 14.

According to Superintendent Nanette Pauley, Lisa Teall will begin her duties as the middle school social worker February 28. The position is funded by a grant (Section 31o) the district was recently awarded. Teall earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work, in 2013, from Western Michigan University. Teall earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work, in 2013, from Western Michigan University. She completed social work internships at both Mattawan Elementary and King West-Wood Elementary, and has nine years teaching experience. Mrs. Teall’s previous work includes providing support for autistic and at-risk youth, designing and facilitating social emotional learning, including lessons and groups focused on bullying prevention and social skills.

Lisa Teall was hired recently as the new social

worker at Marcellus Middle School.

Pauley encourages the community to join her in welcoming Mrs. Teall to our amazing Marcellus Community Schools family.

In other news from Superintendent Pauley, Marcellus Community Schools asks that parents contact their child’s school when their child must be absent. Currently, if the parent does not contact the school, office personnel attempt to contact the parent. This is sometimes a very  consuming task for the office staff. In the near future, the district will begin using automated phone calls to alert parents of their child’s absence and to remind parents to contact the school. The automated notification will be sent at 9:00 a.m. to those parents who have not already notified the school of their child’s absence. The system is expected to go live in the next couple of weeks.

Last week’s evening parent-teacher conferences were canceled due to inclement weather.  As a result, parent-teacher conferences have been rescheduled to Thursday, February 24, from 4:40- 7:30 p.m.
