Mariann Jean Lee, 84, of Gobles, MI passed away on November 10th, 2022, after a courageous and lengthy battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was surrounded by her family when she passed.
Mariann was born on September 3, 1938, in Chicago, IL and was raised by her loving parents Clarence and Anna Robbins. She was married for many years and after her divorce she raised her four children Michael, Mishel, Dawn and Donna. She dedicated her life to being a loving Daughter, Mother, Grandmother & Friend.
Mariann had a very strong work ethic and love for her community. Some of her many accomplishments include serving four years as the Vice Mayor of Gobles, being the first Woman to serve as Commissioner on the Gobles City Commission, being a Rural Mail Carrier with the US Post Office, serving as both a Union Rep & Workers Compensation Rep for the Post Office, being very involved in the program Quality of Work Life, working as the school lunch lady, being a member of the United Methodist Church, and volunteering her time to counsel, support, and advocate for newly diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients.
Mariann was passionate about traveling and visited many countries throughout her travels, including Asia and Russia. She never missed an opportunity for travel, even if it was only a day trip to somewhere she hadn’t been before. As much as she enjoyed her travels, she was even more passionate about racing and loved NASCAR. Mariann attended dozens of NASCAR races over the years, including her most recent NASCAR race in Bristol, VA this past September. She loved to read, and it was very rare that you would find her sitting still without a book open in front of her.
Mariann was proceeded in death by her parents, Clarence and Anna. She is survived by her brother Richard, children Michael, Mishel, Dawn & Donna, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00PM on Saturday, December 10, at Gobles United Methodist Church followed by a luncheon at the Church. The church is located at 210 E. Exchange Street, Gobles, MI.
