December 9, 2024 By Marcellus News Leave a Comment

December 23, 1965 ~ December 1, 2024

Merri Kristi “Kris” Johnson (Armstrong), age 58, peacefully passed away Sunday evening, December 1, 2024, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born in Charlevoix, MI on December 23, 1965, the daughter of Joe and Melva Armstrong. A lover of life, the epitome of the “baby of the family”, the “cool aunt”, a wife, a mother of two, stepmom to two, and a Mimi to 8 grandkids.

Krissy was an adventurous soul and a kid at heart. She loved “Rockhounding, horses, Harleys, traveling, and art. Making something out of nothing was a special quality of Kris’s and her ingenuity will surely be missed. A loving & loyal wife to her husband. Her grandkids will always think of her whenever we’re at the beach and find a “perfect” stone to take home, when they look at a field with horses in it or hear the purr of a Harley going down the road; may they find her in all these little moments. Her daughters will find her in the music that plays as the memories flow on with the melodies.

Surviving are her husband – Larry Johnson; siblings – Bob (Kathy Harsh) Armstrong, Connie (Todd) Porath, and Ron (Kathy) Armstrong; two daughters – Mindy (Latron Nickens) Armstrong and Jasmine (Justin) Carter; and grandchildren that she loved so very much. Also surviving are two stepchildren – Angel Johnson and Richard Johnson.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Melva Armstrong; siblings – Janice (Chris Kellogg) Armstrong, Jack (Kay) Armstrong; and nephew – Robert Armstrong; and granddaughter, A’vyiah Nickens.

Kris had many friends and acquaintances throughout her life, a special person to note would be her “Sis – Tracey Reeves. Throughout the years the two girls were “as thick as thieves.”

A service to celebrate Kris’ life will be held at a date to be determined for Spring 2025. Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel and Cremation Services – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac. Please visit Kris’ personalized webpage to share a memory or leave condolences to her family at www.clarkch.com.
