Cassopolis, Michigan, December 10, 2025 – Chief Judge Carol Montavon Bealor announces that the Cass County Problem-Solving/Treatment Courts have received $420,149 in the following grant awards from the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) for fiscal year 2026, October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026:
$118,784 for the Adult Treatment/Sobriety Court (Hon. Stacey A. Rentfrow)
$153,470 for the Cass County Mental Health Court (Hon. Mark A. Herman)
$67,206 for the Swift and Sure Sanctions Probation Program (Hon. Mark A. Herman)
$80,689 for the Family Treatment Court (Hon. Carol Montavon Bealor)
Chief Judge Bealor indicated that, “We are appreciative of the continued grant funding and support from SCAO for our problem-solving courts. Each of our treatment court programs uses evidence-based practices to combine supervision, monitoring, and treatment to address the underlying causes that brought participants before the Courts. This approach has been proven to not only reduce recidivism but also allows participants to positively engage with community supports that can help them maintain their sobriety once they graduate from the program.”
As of September 30, 2025, Michigan had a total of 137 Drug/Sobriety Courts, 41 Mental Health Courts, and 29 Veterans Treatment Courts. Of the 137 Drug/Sobriety Courts, 9 are Family Dependency Courts.
