The Cass County Medical Control Authority announces that effective Friday, August 18, 2023, at 7:00 am, Pride Care Ambulance Service permanently ceased emergency and non-emergency ambulance service operations in all of Cass County. Beginning last Friday at 7:00 AM, 911 services are now being covered by a group of local EMS agencies who are working together to prevent any disruption in service for our residents. We appreciate Pride Care Ambulance Service for their years of care in Cass County.
Cass County Dispatch Center and EMS agencies have been preparing for this transition to ensure that our EMS system continues to be ready to respond to all medical emergencies in our communities and countywide. All requests for emergency ambulance service should continue to be made by calling “911”.
While we understand that this news can be difficult, rest assured that there are ongoing collaborative efforts to put into place both short- and long-term solutions. This will be a joint effort by city and county representatives, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Cass County Dispatch, other local EMS agencies, Cass County MCA and leadership at Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital. Continue to utilize “911” for your medical emergencies.
Designated by MDHHS, Cass County Medical Control Authority is responsible, under the Michigan Public Health Code, for supervising and coordinating EMS in Cass County.
