Carol Jeane McKenzie Bainbridge

Carol Jeane McKenzie Bainbridge of Marcellus, Michigan, passed away on August 3, 2023, at the age of 99.  She was born in Marcellus, Michigan on September 3, 1923, the daughter of Howard McKenzie and Beulah Bell (Stanard) McKenzie.

On January 22, 1943, in Wakelee, MI she married Robert (Bob) Bainbridge who preceded her in death. Together they farmed, raised four children, were active community members, and traveled the world. Carol was known for her fine cooking, family gatherings, and love of a good adventure.

After graduating from Marcellus High School, Carol attended Maher Business College and worked at a bank in Kalamazoo, MI. She was active in the Cass County Home Extension and affiliated with Marcellus U.M.C.

Carol loved reading, traveling, playing cards, knitting, needle work, time on the lake, laughing at her husband’s jokes, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.  Carol was also passionate about Michigan State football and basketball teams. She was looking forward to the start of the 2023 Spartan football season.

Carol is survived by her son, Gary (Jill) Bainbridge of Sparta NJ, daughter, Ann (Jeffrey) Frymier of Athens, OH; grandchildren, Doug Eddy of Grand Junction, MI; Angie Atteberry of South Haven, MI, Allyson (Gigi) Riccardi of New York, NY, Ross Bainbridge of Santee, CA, Kyle (Jo) Bainbridge of Wyoming, MI, Ashley (Brett) Foster of East Grand Rapids, Julia Frymier of Cincinnati, OH, Nicholas Frymier of Athens, OH;  great grandchildren Karissa Hapke of Kalamazoo, MI, Lane Foster of East Grand Rapids, MI, Grace Foster of East Grand Rapids MI; brother, Keith (Darlene) McKenzie of Cassopolis, MI, sister, Sharon (Brant) Cotterman of Ponte Vedra Beach FL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Beulah, husband Robert, son, Dennis Bainbridge, daughter, Kay Damaagd, son-in-law Jack Demaagd, sister, Berdeen Poe.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, 52780 M-40 North, Marcellus, MI 49067. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. August 12, 2023, with Pastor Melodye VanOudheusden officiating.
