Congratulations to the faculty and staff of Marcellus Elementary for their award-winning work in educating and nurturing our youngest Wildcats. I was extraordinarily proud and honored to announce to the faculty and staff of their US News Best Elementary recognition. Pictured here is the talented and dedicated team at Marcellus Elementary. We look forward to celebrating the amazing accomplishment with the elementary students next month!
Sarah Guritz is the new Director of Food Services at Marcellus Community Schools. Guritz comes to the district with several years of experience in school dining services. Since 2007, Guritz has held various food service positions at Kalamazoo Public Schools and Chartwells. For the last five years, she served as the Assistant Director at Comstock and Parchment Schools. In her new role through Chartwells, Guritz will be a split director, serving both Marcellus Community Schools and Decatur Public Schools.
Guritz holds a Bachelor of Science and Human Services from the University of Phoenix, is a mother of two adult children, and is a grandmother to one year old Milo. In her spare time, Guritz enjoys camping, antiquing, refurbishing old furniture, and science fiction movies.
Asked what she is looking forward to in her new position, Guritz said, “I am looking forward to working with a great team at Marcellus, all of whom have been wonderful and welcoming. I am excited to collaborate with families, students, staff and administration to make the food service environment bigger and better!” Guritz says she chose this line of work because she understands the impact her efforts have for children and the community.
