During this Teacher Appreciation Week, I have been searching for the right words to express my extraordinary admiration and appreciation of the work of Marcellus Community Schools’ teachers. I know my words and expressions are not eloquent enough to adequately convey how I feel, but here goes…
Dear Education Professionals:
The intent of this open letter is to let you know that I understand your worth to our school community. Thank you for all that you do.
I know your dedication and commitment to our students and your heart for educating kids.
I know you are the foundation, the backbone of the school community.
I know you make a difference, every day, by inspiring, motivating, and equipping our students to accomplish their dreams.
I know you are heroes. You influence the next generation and help build the future.
I know you carry what feels like the weight of the world as you work to support ALL students, no matter what challenges they may face.
I know how you gracefully maneuver the complexities of human emotion and, at times, the unreasonable expectations that can accompany your work.
I know you work long hours preparing lessons, assessing student progress, dealing with paperwork, communicating with parents, and navigating what seems like an endless “to-do” list.
I know you sometimes lose sleep worrying about kids.
I know your passion for teaching and supporting the academic and emotional needs of our kids.
I know you don’t always get the respect you deserve as professional educators. That breaks my heart and I am sorry. I will continue to work in support of you, the profession, and our students.
I know this school community is lucky to have you teaching our kids.
While the last few years have been very different and the challenges many, take heart in knowing that there are many, including me, who recognize the amazing contributions you make, the lives you positively impact, and the futures you help build.
Please accept my heartfelt thanks. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
