I am pleased to announce that Timothy Schuur has been selected as the Maintenance and Transportation Director for Marcellus Community Schools. Schuur will begin his work with the school district this week. Â
A longtime local resident and parent of students in Marcellus schools, Schuur has been actively involved with the school for the last several years. He and his wife, Michelle, have two daughters. Eldest daughter Megan is a current college student and a 2020 graduate of Marcellus High School, and McKenzie is a current Marcellus High School sophomore. Â
Schuur has vast experience in the areas of safety, construction, and mechanics. His background includes twenty-five years in law enforcement with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, as well as work in construction and mechanics. Schuur holds mechanics and building licenses and is co-owner of Real Pro Solutions, a construction/preservation business. His knowledge and wealth of experience will, undoubtedly, move the district in the right direction in terms of facilities and safety preparedness planning.
Schuur will replace former Transportation and Facilities Director David Vanderbosch who resigned in April. The district was fortunate to have our former director, Allen Shearer, come out of retirement to temporarily fill the position until a permanent replacement could be found. I am abundantly grateful to Allen Shearer for expertly filling the gap in this integral position. Shearer has agreed to stay on the job until the end of the school year in order to assist in the transition. Â
Please join me in thanking Allen Shearer and welcoming Timothy Schuur to the Marcellus Community School’s team. Â
