Inside the Marcellus Community Schools

January 30, 2024 By Nanette Pauley Leave a Comment

Marcellus Schools Superintendent shares the smiles of FFA members (left to right) Lyssa Robson, Seth Newland, and Abby Asmus after the students’ success at FFA Districts.

On March 18, the Marcellus Board of Education will hold a work session to assess the district’s progress toward meeting previously established goals.  The goals are reviewed annually and are focused on student achievement, finance, facilities and school culture.  The goals are listed below.

1. Student Achievement- Demonstrate continuous academic improvement and engage students in real world experiences that develop learners to be successful in a technological and dynamic global society.

2. Finance -Ensure financial stability while maintaining quality educational and extracurricular programs and adopt a structurally balanced budget, ensuring revenue meets or exceeds expenses while maintaining or elevating the fund balance at 15% of the annual operating budget.

3. Facilities – Provide a safe, clean and healthy environment that is aesthetically pleasing and conducive to exemplary learning.

4. School Culture- Cultivate and maintain a positive and respectful school culture that includes engaging enrichment, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Parents or community members interested in providing feedback or suggestions about district goals or who may be interested in sitting on the Wellness or the district or school improvement committees are encouraged to contact Superintendent Pauley at nanette.pauley@marcelluscs.org or 269-646-7655.

In other news, Marcellus High School hosted FFA Districts on January 24.  The event was packed with participants and spectators as several schools’ FFA members competed for the chance to move on to Regionals.  Congratulations to Marcellus High School students, pictured above, left to right, FFA Adviser and teacher Abby Asmus,  Abby Asmus, Seth Newland, and Lyssa Robson, for taking gold in the Demonstration competition.  The three will compete in Regional competition next month.
