November 3, 1944 ~ November 30, 2022
Jerrie Kaye Barnett, 78, of Marcellus and Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo with her daughter and grandchildren at her side. She was born November 3, 1944, in Anderson, Indiana to Myron (Jay) Barnett and Leone (Ann) Barnett.
Jerrie graduated from Mattawan High School in 1962 and attended Glen Oaks Community College with a certificate in Medical Billing and Coding, an A.A.S. in Allied Health, and an A.A.S in Business. She proudly worked for Peterson Springs for 24 years.
Family and friends were very important to her. Enjoying the many luxuries in life, she would frequently go out with her friends for a bite and an afternoon shopping trip. Among her greatest joys were the experiences she gained through traveling. She was known by friends and family alike for her wonderful homemade candies, cookies, and other holiday treats (which she most generously shared!). And as is the case with most “Nanas,” she truly treasured spending time with her grandchildren.
Remaining to remember her memory are her daughter, Melissa Barnett; her three grandchildren, Haidyn Barnett-Smedziuk, Noah Barnett-Smedziuk, and Makenna Barnett-Smedziuk; her sisters, Linda Rutter, Dorothea Taylor, and Vanessa Wilkinson; her brother, Brett Barnett; numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend of 50+ years, Pat Parks. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Patricia Goff and Nancy Yeomans.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held for family and friends at 1:00 on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at the VFW in Marcellus, MI.
