Muskegon, MI—This year’s Great Lakes Surf Festival is anticipating 2,500-3,000 participants, making it not only the largest surf festival in the country but the largest in the WORLD! Drawing visitors from every age group, water discipline and background, this community inclusive event is sure to please all. With at least twenty-eight returning vendors from across the state, a live band, exciting giveaways and the natural beauty of Pere Marquette Beach, we are anticipating a record-breaking turnout.
Whether or not the weather cooperates, Great Lakes Surf Festival aims to please this year. This year’s festival has two built-in rain delay days so vendors, visitors and participants alike will not be disappointed by unexpected weather.
Hosting up to 50 vendors from across the state, we will have visitors from both peninsulas, other states, and even other countries. Over the past three years of the festival, we have seen increasing groups of foreign exchange students from multiple colleges and universities. We encourage all ages to participate and we are pleased to offer free passes for college students who show a valid I.D.
The Great Lakes Surf Festival is not a surfing contest and not just a festival. It is a celebration of Great Lakes surf culture and is open to all types of board sports disciplines that enjoy the surf. The Great Lakes surf culture has benefited from a long rich history of prior surf related events such as the revered Dairyland Surf Classic. The Great Lakes Surf Festival promises to build on this history and pave the way to a rising new generation of Great Lakes surf enthusiasts. -Joe & Tammy Bidawid – Co-Founders
