Thanks to the prompting in last week’s News by columnists John Mooy and Paula Johnson, it appears time for an update on the Marcellus Area Historical Museum.
According to the building’s owner, once all the necessary inspections have taken place, he and his crew will be able to install drywall and finish work on the interior of 149 E. Main. No one is more anxious to reopen the doors than The News. Without the support of the Hudson Memorial Building Board and the Marcellus Community Schools, The News would have been seriously homeless the past few months. Your generosity will not be forgotten.
Once the interior is complete, it will take some time to establish displays and create a public space for Marcellus to convene and celebrate its heritage. However, we are thrilled to say that we hope to be the recipient of a unique and well-used piece of equipment from Marcellus’ past.
Support for the endeavor continues to grow as we are hearing from more and more MHS alumni and past and present residents. Anyone wishing to help financially support the creation of the museum may do so by sending contributions to the MAHS at PO Box 277, Marcellus, Michigan 49067. Those who wish to make a lifetime contribution of $500 and above will be added to the Founders’ Club. Those names will be added to a permanent plaque inside the museum.
