The Marcellus Area Historical Society (MAHS) doesn’t actually clean houses, but it has been busy doing some house-cleaning as far as its collections are concerned and needs to divest itself of some items.
MAHS is holding a fundraising sale, Friday, September 2, 5:00 – 7:00pm, at 149 E. Main Street, Marcellus. The building, which also houses The Marcellus News, is the future home of the Society’s local museum.
Admission to the sale is $5.00 per person. Items are likely to vary from “I can’t believe you’re selling this” to “what is this?”. The Society asks that serious shoppers provide their own boxes and/or bags to carry home treasures and trinkets. The group will likely have some grocery bags available, but only in a limited quantity.
The Society is raising funds to purchase such items as display shelving, archival storage containers, dress forms and/or mannequins, and to cover the cost of moving larger items into the building.
The Marcellus Area Historical Society, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, was organized exclusively for the recognition, preservation, promotion, and maintenance of historic buildings, artifacts, and legacies in the greater Marcellus, Michigan, area, and educational outreach. The purpose of this corporation is: to identify historic structures, artifacts, and legacies relating to the history of Marcellus, Michigan, and, subsequently, to preserve and maintain those structures, artifacts, and legacies to provide educational opportunities for Marcellus area school children and the general public.
