Marcellus, MI – January 22, 2024 – The Marcellus Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is excited to announce a new phase in the evolution of the beloved ‘First Fridays’ event. With a fresh approach and a strong commitment to collaboration, the DDA is setting the stage for an integrated and community-driven future.
As the DDA takes the helm once again in managing ‘First Fridays’, it extends an open invitation to all groups and businesses in Marcellus. The aim is to weave their professional structures and processes into the fabric of this and other community-wide projects. This collaborative approach promises to bring a renewed energy and efficiency to the event.
The decision to bring First Fridays back under the DDA’s purview comes after successful seasons with the Marcellus Historical Society and the Marcellus Enrichment Initiative. The event was temporarily entrusted to the Marcellus Historical Society for the 2022 season while plans were underway to establish an independent nonprofit organization. Then, in 2023, First Fridays saw tremendous success under the Marcellus Enrichment Initiative’s guidance.
Now, in an enthusiastic move towards community integration, the DDA is aligning closely with the Marcellus Village Council and other key community organizations. This partnership seeks to enhance the event’s vibrancy and ensure that ‘First Fridays’ continues to be a cornerstone of community life in Marcellus.
“We’re not just planning events; we’re building community,” said a DDA Chair, Seth Carlson. “Our collaboration with local businesses, community volunteers, the Village Council, and other organizations like the MEI is a testament to our commitment to a unified Marcellus and its vibrant future.”
As First Fridays return to their roots, the Marcellus Enrichment Initiative is not slowing down. The organization has exciting plans for the future, starting with a free Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Looking ahead, the Marcellus Enrichment Initiative is already in the early stages of planning for “Christmas in the Village” on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
