
PLEASE NOTE THE SPECIAL MEETING SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 12, 2023
The Marcellus Township Board met for the regular meeting, Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 6:02p.m. at the Marcellus Township Hall. Sheriff Behnke led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call was taken: Present – Koshar, Hess, Mroz, Schick, and Plummer
Motion by Schick, second by Mroz, to approve the agenda – All ayes, motion carried.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved with Hess making the motion and Schick seconding the motion. All ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Koshar, seconded by Mroz to pay approve the bills as presented. Roll Call vote: Ayes – Koshar, Hess, Schick, Mroz, & Plummer – Motion Carried
Treasurers Report: Motion by Plummer, seconded by Hess, to approve the treasurer’s report as presented. All ayes – motion carried.
Sherriff’s report: Sheriff Behnke presented the board with a request to replace the current patrol car in Marcellus. The approximate cost would be $54,000 payable over four years.
Motion by Hess, seconded by Koshar, to purchase a new patrol car. Roll Call vote: Ayes – Koshar, Plummer, Hess, Mroz, Schick – Motion Carried.
Additionally, Sheriff Behnke introduced Deputy Joe Sheteron. Deputy Sheteron replaced Sgt. Jason Jarrard, who has been recently promoted.
Sexton Kruger reported four recent burials and one cremation. There was a motion by Schick, seconded by Plummer, to pay Michael Moore $75 for flag pole clips at the Bly Cemetery.
Trustee Schick shared a report from the MAESA board.
Blight: Blight Administrator Grames shared a list of costs for blight clean-up in the township.
Supervisor’s report: Supervisor Koshar made a motion, seconded by Hess, to accept the contract of Zoning Solutions up to $3,000 and/or 6 months with the possibility of renewal. Roll call vote: Ayes – Koshar, Hess, Schick, Mroz, and Plummer – All Ayes, motion carried
Motion by Koshar, seconded by Hess, to clarify the ordinance labeled 2021-4 (Non-conforming manufactured home) to that may have been approved and adopted originally as 2021-4 in the Township Board Minutes, where in fact the Marcellus Planning Commission approved the ordinance as 2022-1 and the subsequent publication was labeled 2022-1. It is declared that 2021-4 was mislabeled and should be corrected to reflect 2022-1 as published. All Ayes – Motion Carried.
Supervisor Koshar brought the discussion of another township road repair. Motion by Hess, seconded by Schick, to pay $1,731.39 to chip and seal Oak Street. Roll Call vote – Ayes: Koshar, Hess, Plummer, Schick, and Mroz. Motion Carried
Motion by Koshar to adjourn the meeting with a second by Hess, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
