Supervisor Koshar called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and led the Pledge of Allegiance
Roll Call: Koshar, Mroz, Hess, Schick, and Plummer
Motion by Plummer, seconded by Mroz, to approve the agenda as amended, adding Amended Ordinances. All Ayes – Motion carried.
Motion by Hess, seconded by Mroz, to approve the minutes of June 17, 2025, meeting. All Ayes – Motion Carried.
Motion by Schick, support by Mroz, to pay the bills as presented in the amount of $29,770.85. Roll call vote: Ayes – Koshar, Schick, Mroz, Hess, and Plummer. Motion Carried.
Motion by Koshar, support by Hess, to accept treasurer’s report as presented. All Ayes – motion carried.
REPORTS:
• Cass County Sheriff’s Department Report – Undersheriff Schurr reports that a few additional recruits are currently in the Police Academy and two more will be attending soon. The new K9 patrol vehicle is now on the road.
• Planning Commission: PC chair Ken Chemers shared the Master Plan that we worked with Cass County on.
• Sexton Report – Sexton Grames shared the sexton report. He also shared that there is a dead tree that needs to be removed. He received a quote from JC Tree Service for $800. Motion by Koshar, supported by Hess, to approve to have the tree removed. Roll call vote: Ayes: Schick, Hess, Mroz, Koshar, and Plummer. Motion carried.
• Commissioner Northrop – N/A
• MAESA – Schick shared the monthly MAESA report.
• Zoning Report – Lamoreaux shared the monthly zoning report.
• Blight Report – Lamoreaux shared the status of blight clean-up projects that were completed.
• Supervisor’s Report: No report this month
New Business
• Approval of Lakefront Residential Zoning Ordinance amendments:
o Section 10.22 Lakefront Residential & Section 4.05 Use regulations – Single Family Lakefront District – Amendments read Structures provided shall not exceed twelve (12) feet by twelve (12) feet or one hundred and forty four (144) square feet in the area with a front yard setback of fifteen (15) feet from the lake or stream and a side yard setback of six (6) feet. The structure must be non-enclosed.
Motion by Koshar, seconded by Hess. All Ayes – Motion Carried
• A form to Request to Rezone Property was submitted for approval. Motion by Koshar, seconded by Hess, to approve form as submitted. All Ayes – motion carried.
• The Bluegill Frolic committee has requested that the township help pay for extra security from the Sheriff’s Department for the Bluegill Frolic in August. Motion by Plummer, seconded by Mroz, to approve $600 to the Bluegill Frolic Committee for extra security. Roll call vote: Ayes: Plummer, Mroz, Schick, Hess, and Koshar. Motion Carried
