Marcellus Township Regular Board Meeting Minutes – June 17, 2025

 Supervisor Koshar called the meeting to order at 6:19pm, after the public hearing.

   Roll Call: Koshar, Mroz, Hess, Schick, and Plummer 

Motion by Schick, seconded by Mroz, to approve the agenda as presented.  All Ayes – Motion carried.

   Motion by Hess, seconded by Schick, to approve the minutes of May 20, 2025, minutes.  All Ayes – Motion Carried.  

   Motion by Koshar, support by Hess, to pay the bills as presented, with the additions. Roll call vote:  Ayes – Koshar, Schick, Mroz, Hess, and Plummer.  Motion Carried.  

   Motion by Hess, support by Plummer, to accept treasurer’s report as presented.  All Ayes – motion carried.

REPORTS: 
• Cass County Sheriff’s Department Report – Undersheriff Tim Schuur and Deputy Sheteron introduced Deputy trainee, Elijah Clark, who recently graduated from police academy.  He will be training with Deputy Sheteron until early July.

• Planning Commission: PC member Debra Hess reported that the Planning Commission approved new ordinances for Short-term and Long-term rentals.  These ordinances have been moved on to the township board for approval.

• Sexton Report – Sexton Grames shared the sexton report.

• Commissioner Northrop – N/A

• MAESA – Schick shared that no MAESA meeting was held this month.

• Zoning Report – Lamoreaux shared the monthly zoning report.

• Blight Report – Lamoreaux shared the status of blight clean-up projects that were completed.  

• Supervisor’s Report:  
o Koshar shared the Library Board budget for 2025-2026 fiscal year for our information. Motion by Mroz, support by Hess, to accept the Library Board budget.  All Ayes – motion carried.

o Motion by Koshar, seconded by Mroz, to adopt the Marcellus Township Short-term rental ordinance as presented.  All Ayes – Motion Carried.  

o Motion by Koshar, support by Plummer, to approve the Marcellus Township Long-term rental ordinance, along with the pertinent application and checklist.  All Ayes – motion carried.   

New Business:  
• Natalie Herry asked to be placed on the agenda but was not present.  Her item will be tabled

Unfinished Business   
• None

Public Comments
• Public Comment occurred

   Motion by Hess, seconded by Schick, to adjourn at 6:56 pm.  All ayes – motion carried
