Motion by Schick, second by Hess, to approve the minutes from the April 18, 2024 Special Board Meeting. All ayes – motion carried. Motion by Koshar, seconded by Hess, to approve the minutes from the board meeting on April 16, 2024. All Ayes – motion carried
Motion by Hess, support by Mroz, to pay the bills as presented. Roll Call: Ayes: Koshar, Mroz, Schick, Hess, and Plummer. Motion Carried
Motion by Plummer, support by Hess, to accept treasurer’s report as presented. All Ayes – motion carried. Public Comments: None
REPORTS:
• Cass County Sheriff’s Department Report – Two new deputies have graduated from the Academy and are now on the road. A few others will be attending the Academy in Battle Creek soon. The Drug Team millage renewal will be on the August 2024 ballot.
• Sexton Kruger – None
• Commissioner Locke – The Animal Control Shelter has received approval for their new fencing.
• MAESA – Schick presented report for MAESA board and discussion followed.
• Zoning Report – None
• Planning Commission – None
• Blight Report – None
• Supervisor’s Report:
o Supervisor Koshar gave an update on the Jones v Marcellus Twp case. We are awaiting an appellate response.
o New Planning Commission member appointment: Motion by Koshar, seconded by Schick, to appoint Debra Hess to the open spot on the Planning Commission. All Ayes – motion carried – Abstain: Don Hess

• Clerk Plummer and Treasurer Mroz met virtually with Tim Hutchens and Mary. They shared their concerns about not receiving monthly paperwork and Hutchens office agreed to send December and January by the end of the week and the rest by the end of May. On May 20, Plummer, Mroz, and Schick met with Brian Krol from Sieber Tans. They were going to look into the information and get back to us.
• Treasurer Mroz shared that she has the set-up to take credit cards for tax payments. The fee for payment of 2.9% would be paid by the taxpayer.
Public Comments
o Greg Himes inquired about compliance for the Marijuana grow fields. He was assured that the township’s marijuana designee verifies the compliance of each grow business.
