Supervisor Koshar called the meeting to order at 6:00pm and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Present: Koshar, Hess, Mroz, Schick, and Plummer
Trustee Hess requested to add new furniture for meeting room to agenda and the adoption of the 2027 budget was added to the agenda. Motion by Schick, seconded by Mroz, to approve the agenda of the June 16, meeting as amended. All Ayes – motion carried
Motion by Koshar, seconded by Hess, to approve the minutes of the May 19, 2026, meeting as presented. All Ayes, motion carried.
Motion by Hess, support by Mroz, to approve the bills in the amount of $139,343.27. Roll call vote: Ayes – Koshar, Mroz, Hess, Schick, and Plummer. Motion Carried.
Treasurer Mroz shared the monthly treasurer’s report. She also shared that the Fifth Third account had been hacked and money removed from our account. The bank has returned the funds that were taken. She worked very diligently with Fifth Third to have it corrected. Motion by Plummer, support by Hess, to accept treasurer’s report as presented. All Ayes – motion carried.
REPORTS:
• Cass County Sheriff’s Department Report –Sheriff Roach shared the monthly report, that the Marcellus School District was awarded a grant for a School Resource Officer for the 2026-2027 school year. This will be in addition to the township deputy. They will work daily from Monday-Friday (7am-3pm) during the school day and may adjust their schedule as needed for sporting events. He shar
• Planning Commission: No report to share
• Sexton Report – Sexton Grames shared the sexton report. (1 cremation burial). He will be getting quotes on signs for the cemetery and will report back to the board.
• Commissioner Northrop – No report to share.
• MAESA – Trustee Schick shared the monthly report
• Zoning Report – Lamoreaux shared the monthly report (Two appraisals, Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, and several site visits).
• Blight Report – Lamoreaux shared the monthly report including several site visits. A citizen appealed to the board to waive blight fine of $500. Motion by Koshar, seconded by Hess, to waive Andrea LaForge’s blight fee with the understanding that she would continue to clean up the property. All Ayes – Motion Carried.
• Supervisor’s Report:
o Koshar shared that he was contacted by the VFW to pay to replace the American Flags along the fence at the Cemetery. Motion by Koshar, supported by Hess, to pay the VFW $510 for 17 American Flags. Ayes: Hess, Koshar, Mroz, Schick, and Plummer. All Ayes – Motion Carried.
o Assessor Northrop inquired about having Zoe Ward becoming a member of the Board of Review. Motion by Koshar, seconded by Plummer, to appoint Zoe Ward as a member of the Board of Review. All Ayes – Motion Carried.
o Koshar shared the Wood Memorial Library budget. Motion by Schick, seconded by Hess, to approve the library budget. All Ayes – Motion carried.
o Koshar shared that the State House has passed property tax reform with replacing the revenue. It is reducing revenue to municipalities and schools without replacing the revenue. This has only passed in the House so far.
New Business:
• The Truth-in-Taxation hearing was held at 5:45pm on June 16, 2026, prior to the regular meeting. Motion by Koshar, seconded by Hess, to collect maximum taxes allowed by law, which is the same amount as last fiscal year, included in the motion was to accept the 2027 budget as discussed in the budget hearing and to accept millages adopted for truth-in-taxation. All Ayes – Motion Carried
• Trustee Hess volunteered to review and bring before the board options for new furniture in the hall.

• A group of citizens from Big Fish Lake brought concerns regarding shooting off fireworks on days other than those specified by law. The suggestion was to contact law enforcement. Motion by Hess, seconded by Plummer, to adjourn at 7:12 pm. All ayes – motion carried Respectfully submitted,
