Marcellus TWP Wood Memorial Library News

May 10, 2022 By Marcellus News Leave a Comment

We’re so excited to be gearing up for summer with lots of in-person events! In the meantime, there are many great programs to enjoy:

Spring Preschool Story Hour: last session on Wednesday, May 18, 10:15 AM.

Mike Fornes presents the Grand Hotel Mackinac Island: Thursday, May 26, 7:00 PM.

First Thursday Book Club: Thursday, June 2, 12:00 Noon.

I Learned It from a Book: exhibit during First Friday, June 3, from 5:00-8:00 PM. Contact the library at 269-646-9654 to share your hobby, skill or knowledge of what you learned from a book.

After celebrating our favorite women last Sunday, look no further than the new fiction display for characters that completely embody the Nora Ephron quote, “Above all, be the heroine of your life.”

Four Treasures of the Sky by Jenny Tinghui Zhang – After being kidnapped and smuggled across an ocean from China to America, Daiyu must keep reinventing herself to survive. From a calligraphy school to a San Francisco brothel, to a shop tucked into the Idaho mountains, we follow Daiyu on a desperate quest to outrun the tragedy that chases her.

The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd – Fans of Joe Hill and V. E. Schwab will love this highly imaginative thriller about a young woman who discovers that a strange map in her deceased father’s belongings holds an incredible, deadly secret–one that will lead her on an extraordinary adventure and to the truth about her family’s dark history.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus – In the early 1960s, chemist and single mother Elizabeth Zott, the reluctant star of America’s most beloved cooking show due to her revolutionary skills in the kitchen, uses this opportunity to dare women to change the status quo.

Her New Story by Laura Bradford – A down-on-her-luck journalist whose less than ideal assignment to Pennsylvania’s Amish country forces her to re-think her priorities, and her life… can she betray the people who have opened their arms for the sake of a scoop?

We receive new books each week. Check marcellus.biblionix.com to see the latest updates or place holds!
