Budget Workshop May 8, 2024
Supervisor Oxley called the Budget Workshop to order at 6:30 p.m. Members present- Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, Packer, and Smith. Also present – Attorney Moraitis.
Supervisor Oxley closed the Budget Workshop at 6:55 p.m.
Regular Meeting May 8, 2024
Supervisor Oxley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present – Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, Packer, and Smith. Also present – Attorney Moraitis and five guests.
Motion by Packer with support by Nesbitt to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on April 10, 2024.
Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Packer with support by Smith to approve the Treasurer’s report subject to audit. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Nesbitt with support by Packer to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Smith with support by Packer to hold a Budget Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 6:15pm for fiscal year ending 6/30/2025. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Smith with support by Packer to hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 6:30 pm to renew the Fire Special Assessment District. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Smith with support by Packer to hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 6:45 pm to renew the Road Special Assessment District. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Nesbitt to approve Supervisor Oxley’s recommendation to appoint Greg Brucks to the Planning Commission, to finish Heather’s Smith’s term. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Motion by Nesbitt with support by Smith to approve Supervisor Oxley’s recommendation to hire Robert Angle as the Zoning Administrator. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to request the Van Buren County Board of Commissioners amend the draft Van Buren County Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) ordinance to allow ORV use on CR 652, CR 352, and CR 669 in Porter Township. Voice call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to hire KAM Assessing as the Porter Township Assessor of Record, at a rate of $3,300 per month. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Smith with support by Bitely to hire Zoning Solutions to do marijuana facility inspections and also attend ZBOA meetings at a rate of $35 per hour. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to adjourn the meeting at 7:47 pm. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
