The Newberg Township Board met at the Newberg Township Fire Department in regular session on January 12, 2026.
Supervisor Covey led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

Additions/Deletions to Agenda
Old hall maintenance.
Approval of the Agenda
Motion made by Covey, supported by Harvey, to add old hall maintenance under New Business line item four to the agenda. Motion carried upon voice vote.
Approval of Minutes
Motion made by Covey, supported by Griffiths, to approve the minutes from the December 8th 2025 General Meeting. Motion carried upon voice vote.
Reports
Assessor: Nothing to report.
Ordinance: Nothing to report.
Ambulance: Director Griffiths reported twenty-eight (28) calls for the month of December.
Fire: Chief Forrester reported seven (7) calls for the month of December.
Sexton: Rifenberg reported two (2) full burials for the month of December.
Building: Report read by Supervisor Covey.
Treasurer: Winter tax dates for collection will be February 23rd 5-7pm, March 2nd 9am-12, 1-5pm.
County Commission: Nothing to report.
Solar Project: Nothing new to report.

Sheriff Roach shared on goings in the county and sheriff’s department.

Unfinished Business
1. New Township Hall: Nothing new to report.
2. Township Lake Ordinances: Nothing new at this time.
3. Harwood Lake Cemetery: On hold until spring.
4. Cass Mobile Clinic: The Cass Mobile Clinic will be parked at the Newberg Township Fire Department the 4th Tuesday of every month 8:40am-4:30pm.
5. 2026/2027 Budget Workshop Schedule: First budget workshop is scheduled for January 21st, 5pm at the township hall.

1. Enforcement Officer township Employee Position: Will be waiting until next month to follow up on this position.
2. Grand Pond DNR: Not present.
3. 2026 Resolutions: Motion made by Blackburn, supported by Griffiths, to accept the Resolution for Poverty Exemption Income Guidelines and Asset Level Test. Roll call: Aye- Blackburn, Griffiths, Covey and Harvey. Absent: Duff. Resolution adopted upon roll call vote.
Motion made by Blackburn, supported by Harvey, to accept the Resolution to Set an Alternate Date for the December Board of Review 2026. Roll call: Aye- Griffiths, Covey, Blackburn and Harvey. Absent: Duff. Resolution adopted upon roll call vote.
Motion made by Blackburn, supported by Griffiths, to accept Resolution to Set an Alternate Date for the July Board of Review 2026. Roll call: Aye- Griffiths, Blackburn, Harvey and Covey. Absent: Duff. Resolution adopted upon roll call vote.
Motion made by Covey, supported by Harvey, to adopt resolution 26-01 to schedule the monthly General Board Meetings on the second Monday of each month to be held at the Newberg Township Fire Department (until the Newberg Township Hall building is complete then meetings will move to the hall located on same property) at 7:00pm for all of 2026 calendar year. Motion made by Covey, supported by Griffiths to adopt resolutions 26-02 to schedule the monthly Newberg Ambulance Department Meetings to be held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Newberg Township Fire Department at 7:30pm for the 2026 calendar year. Roll call vote: Aye- Griffiths, Covey, Harvey and Blackburn. Absent: Duff. Resolution adopted upon roll call vote.
Motion made by Covey, supported by Harvey, to adopt resolution 26-03 to schedule the monthly Newberg Township Fire Department meetings to be held on the first Monday of each month at the Newberg Township Fire Department at 8:00pm for the 2026 calendar year. Roll call vote: Aye-Harvey, Covey, Griffiths and Blackburn. Absent: Duff. Resolution adopted upon roll call vote.
Motion made by Covey, supported by Griffiths, to adopt resolution 26-04 to set the 2027 Annual Meting of the Inhabitants to be held on March 8th 2027 following the General Board Meeting. Roll call vote: Aye-Griffiths, Blackburn, Harvey and Covey. Absent: Duff. Resolution adopted upon roll call vote.
Motion made by Covey, supported by Harvey, to continue the landfill pass program for the 2026 calendar year. Newberg will continue to provide two (2) landfill passes per Newberg parcel with up to six (6) total per property owner with multiple parcels. Motion carried upon voice vote.
Bills to Pay
Motion made by Blackburn, supported by Harvey, to pay the bills for the month of January in the amount of $81,401.63. Motion carried upon voice vote.

Public comment was had at this time regarding township hall building and the electrical inspector.
