Library News for the week  of February 7, 2022

“A romance book is designed to tell you something about love–its ability to endure, forgive, go the extra mile, care about someone, put someone else first.” – Dee Henderson

As Valentine’s Day approaches, check out our new books that will bring some romance to your week:

Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon features a TV meteorologist and a sports reporter who scheme to reunite their divorced bosses with unforecasted results in this charming romantic comedy.

Maple Leaf Harvest: A Mystic Creek Novel #7 by Catherine Anderson follows Lane Driscoll as she discovers, with the help of the town psychologist, that she has a twin sister who may be in danger, and as they race against time to find her, romance blossoms between them.

The Lucky Escape by Laura Jane Williams is not your average romance novel; When the day finally comes for Annie to marry Alexander, the last thing she expects is to be left standing at the altar. She has no idea how she could have got it so wrong. Could a spontaneous trip be the way to mend her heart? She’s about to find out as she embarks on her honeymoon – with a man who’s not her husband!

Best Laid Plans by Roan Parrish follows Charlie Matheson, who has spent his life taking care of things and when he sees something broken, his first instinct is to fix it. Rye Janssen has spent his life breaking things. Promises. His parents’ hearts. Leases. Can a man who have been moving his whole life finally find a reason to stay put? Is this what it feels like to have a home – and someone to share it with?

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston centers on a cynical twenty-three-year old who doesn’t believe in much until she meets Jane. When August realizes her subway crush is impossible in more ways than one (namely, displaced in time from the 1970s) she thinks maybe it’s time to start believing.

Riverbend Gap: Riverbend Romance #1 by Denise Hunter begins when Deputy Cooper Robinson does everything he can think of to distract a driver whose car is balanced on a cliff –up to and including sharing things he’s never disclosed to anyone. Likewise, Katie Loveland opens up to the deputy, and by the time she’s rescued, they’ve formed an intense bond. Later, she learns that the charming deputy who saved her life is also her boyfriend’s brother. In the aftermath, both Katie and Cooper must decide what to do with their newfound connection… And the decision they make could change everything.

The Inn on Sweetbiar Lane: A Blue Cedar Falls Novel by Jeannie Chin offers readers a charming opposites-attract romance about two lonely hearts discovering that love doesn’t always go according to plan. Can two total opposites really learn to meet each other in the middle, professionally and romantically?

Since You’ve Been Gone: Restoring Heritage #3 by Tari Faris brings Leah Williams back to Heritage, determined to try again with her business. When she discovers she’ll have to work with the guy who made her high school years so difficult, sparks fly both in their relationship and in the business.

Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience by Brene Brown lays out an invaluable, research-based framework that shows us that “with an adventurous heart and the right maps, we can travel anywhere and never fear losing ourselves. Even when we have no idea where we are.”

The latest copy of BookPage is available for patrons with even more suggestions for “books with heart.”

Additionally, as you browse our fiction collection, you can also look for orange stickers with a red heart on the spine of romance novels (or a yellow sticker with a cross if you prefer Christian fiction/Christian romance).  You can always access e-books and audiobooks through Overdrive/Libby.

“You are never alone when lost in the magic of a good book!” – Marie Lu
