January 17, 2023 By Marcellus News Leave a Comment

This week the library is highlighting three new mystery books.

Mad Honey: A Novel by Jodi Piccoult and Finney Boylan

Olivia McAfee was living the perfect life—wife of a brilliant surgeon, mother of a handsome son, Asher. But her husband was not what he appeared to be. She leaves him, relocates to her hometown in New Hampshire, and takes over her dad’s beekeeping business. A single mother and her daughter, Lily Campanello, move nearby, and Lily starts her final year in high school.  Asher and Lily fall for one another but Lily is uneasy about him. One day, Olivia receives a phone call that Lily is dead, and Asher is suspected of murder. As the case against Asher unfolds, Olivia realizes that she does not know her son as well as she thought.

The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh   Celebrity Rhys Lloyd returns to the mountains of North Wales and the village of Cwm Coed which sits on gorgeous Mirror Lake. He wants to develop a luxury resort on the shore opposite of the village.  Tensions surface between the locals and the outsiders. The resort is built and a New Year’s Eve party is thrown to celebrate its opening. But, the next morning, Rhys is found floating in the lake, and police officer Ffion Morgan is called in to investigate.  However, Ffion has her own ties to the villagers and secrets in her past.

Bleeding Heart Yard by Elly Griffiths

When in school in the late 90s, Cassie Fitzgerald and her friends killed a fellow student. Twenty years later she is a married woman, a mother, and police officer. She attends a high school reunion and catches up with her high achieving classmates. But, one of them is found dead of a drug overdose in the school bathroom.  She is assigned to the investigation and has reason to thwart it.  But, then, another murder occurs.
