Paul Duncan Murray passed away unexpectedly in his home in Bristol, Rhode Island on November 30, 2024. Born March 16, 1956, to Lloyd and Florence Murray of Marcellus, Michigan, Paul was the fifth of their six children. He grew up in Marcellus, graduating from Marcellus High School in 1974, and attending Michigan State University.

He enjoyed working in the restaurant industry, eventually moving to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, where he continued his career in food service. Upon returning to the US, he settled in Bristol and attended Johnson and Wales University, earning an associate’s degree in culinary arts. He later was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Roger Williams University.
Paul was employed at Brown University as a food service manager until retirement. He enjoyed acoustic music, regularly attending concerts and music festivals. He loved sailing. He explored Europe and the US by airplane, train, and motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Carol (Murray) Huff and his brother James (Sue) Murray. He leaves behind his siblings Nancy (Dave Huizenga) Murray, Linda Murray, and Bruce (Cathy) Murray, multiple nieces and nephews, and special friends Bea Grimmitt and Gwen Maynard.
Paul’s family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Schrier Park, 850 W. Osterhout Road, Portage Michigan. Memorial service at 2:30 PM followed by refreshments, conversation and memories.
