Supervisor Oxley called the Budget Workshop to order at 6:00 p.m. Members present- Meade, Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, and Packer. Also present – Attorney Schuitmaker and one guest.

Lake Drive on Huzzy Lake Special Assessment District Public Hearing

Supervisor Oxley called the Lake Drive Special Assessment District Public Hearing to order at 6:45 p.m. Members present- Meade, Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, and Packer. Also present – Attorney Schuitmaker and six guests.
Supervisor Oxley closed the Lake Drive Special Assessment District Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m.
Regular Meeting
May 10, 2023
Supervisor Oxley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present – Meade, Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt and Packer. Also present – Attorney Schuitmaker and eight guests.
Motion by Packer with support by Nesbitt to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on April 12, 2023. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Packer with support by Nesbitt to approve the Treasurer’s report subject to audit. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Nesbitt with support by Bitely to hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 6:45pm regarding maintenance of Lake Drive on Huzzy Lake. Motion rescinded.
Motion by Nesbitt with support by Bitely to establish a Special Assessment District for Lake Drive (Huzzy Lake) Maintenance. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Packer with support by Nesbitt to adopt a resolution to establish a special assessment district and hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 6:45 pm to assess the costs to maintain Lake Drive-Huzzy Lake. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Meade with support by Bitely to hold a Budget Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 6:00 pm for fiscal year ending 6/30/2024. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Meade with support by Bitely to hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 6:15 pm to renew the Fire Special Assessment District. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Meade with support by Packer to hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 6:30 pm to renew the Road Special Assessment District. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Meade with support by Packer to hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 6:00 pm to renew the Huzzy Lake Weed Special Assessment District. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Meade with support by Packer to hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 6:30 pm to renew the Gravel Lake Weed Special Assessment District. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

Motion by Bitely with support by Nesbitt to approve Van Buren County Road Commission 2023 Dust Control project at estimated cost of $21,477.60. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Nesbitt with support by Bitely to approve Van Buren County Road Commission 80th Avenue project to pave from M-40 Highway to 29th Street at an estimated cost of $453,850.10. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to adopt a resolution to set sewer rates and charges for the Cass County Sewage Disposal System (Lakes Area Sewer Authority Section and Extension No. 1) from $55.00 to $67.50 per month. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
