Porter Township, Van Buren County, Michigan

Regular Meeting: November 8, 2023

   Supervisor Oxley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Members present – Meade, Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, and Packer.  Also present – Attorney Schuitmaker and eight guests. 

   Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on October 11, 2023. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

  Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to approve the Treasurer’s report subject to audit. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

  Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

  Motion by Bitely with support by Nesbitt to approve a resolution to accept the Rieth-Riley Site Plan. Roll call vote – Packer, Nesbitt, Meade, Bitely – yes. Oxley – abstain. Motion passed. 

  Motion by Meade with support by Packer to add Deputy Clerk Heather Smith to GW Jones Exchange Bank, Consumers Credit Union, and Huntington Bank accounts. Treasurer Andrew Nesbitt and Clerk Charles Meade, current signers on account, will remain. Requirement of 2 signatures on checks at GW Jones Exchange Bank to remain. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

  Motion by Meade with support by Nesbitt to approve Supervisor Oxley recommendation to hire Aleksich Excavating to add berms beside newly paved driveways and parking lots, not to exceed $22,770.  Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

  Motion by Nesbitt with support by Bitely to approve Treasurer Nesbitt’s recommendation to hire STC – Shumaker Technology Group – to build a new township website at a cost of $2495 for setup and design, and $750 annual fee for updates and maintenance. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

  Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm. Voice vote – all yes.  Motion passed.
