Porter Township – Van Buren County – Regular Meeting, February 11, 2026

Supervisor Oxley called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. Members present – Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, Packer, and Smith. Also present – Attorney Moraitis and eight guests.

   Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on January 14, 2026. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to approve the Treasurer’s report subject to audit. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Nesbitt with support by Bitely to approve Township to cover inspection fees on Ag Exempt buildings, where permit is not required and fees not collected, at a rate of $67.50 per inspection. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to approve Supervisor Oxley’s recommendation to reappoint Greg Brucks, Andrew Nesbitt, and Tonya Willis to the Planning Commission for 3-year terms. Voice call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Nesbitt with support by Packer to approve Supervisor Oxley’s recommendation to reappoint Robert Angle, Harold Laski, and Daniel Price, with alternate Robert Blum, to the Zoning Board of Appeals for a 3-year term. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Packer with support by Smith to approve Supervisor Oxley’s recommendation to reappoint Robert Camfield, Gary Mencl, and Norman Smith to the Construction Board of Appeals for a 2-year term. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Smith with support by Packer to approve office renovations – furniture, installation, floor and paint, at a cost not to exceed $45,000. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.

   Motion by Nesbitt with support by Packer to approve Supervisor Oxley’s recommendation to terminate Zoning

   Solutions LLC contract for ordinance enforcement, effective immediately. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.

  Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 pm. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
