Budget Workshop May 13, 2026
Supervisor Oxley called the Budget Workshop to order at 6:30 p.m. Members present – Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, Packer, and Smith. Also present – Attorney Schuitmaker.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to adjourn the Budget Workshop at 6:50 pm. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Regular Meeting May 13, 2026
Supervisor Oxley called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m. Members present – Oxley, Bitely, Nesbitt, Packer, and Smith. Also present – Attorney Schuitmaker and seven guests.
Motion by Packer with support by Nesbitt to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on April 8, 2026. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Packer with support by Smith to approve the Treasurer’s report subject to audit. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Nesbitt with support by Bitely to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Bitely with support by Nesbitt to approve Ordinance 2026-1 Cargo, Shipping and/or Storage Container Usage. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Nesbitt with support by Bitely to approve a resolution to amend Porter Township Zoning Ordinance Section 4.18 Signs and Outdoor Advertising Structures. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Nesbitt with support by Packer to Continue the Special Assessment District for the eradication or control of aquatic weeds and plants for Bankson Lake. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Smith with support by Packer to renew the Township Assessor contract for a two-year term, at a current rate of $3,677.36 per month. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Packer with support by Bitely for a resolution to approve sewer connection fee payment contract and matters related thereto. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Motion by Packer with support by Bitely to hire Complete Outdoor Services MI LLC to do landscaping work at Township Hall, at a cost not to exceed $1189.84. Roll call vote – all yes. Motion passed.
Election Commission Meeting will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 5:50 pm.
Budget Public Hearing will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 6:00 pm.
Fire Special Assessment District Public Hearing will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 6:15 pm. Road Special Assessment District Public Hearing will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 6:30 pm.
Bankson Lake Weed Special Assessment District Public Hearing will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 6:45 pm.
Motion by Bitely with support by Packer to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 pm. Voice vote – all yes. Motion passed.
