Spruce Ridge Golf Club, located at 26831 Dutch Settlement, Dowagiac, Michigan was recognized in a national golf magazine in December of 2021. In the Golf Course Industry Magazine, Spruce Ridge Golf Club was published in an article titled We Bought A Golf Course.
Every December, the golf course magazine allows non-journalists to submit golf-related articles, it is called the “Turfheads Take Over Issue.” The editor of the magazine began the Spruce Ridge article stating that the Sumners “family have discovered many things about turf, business, life, people and themselves since acquiring a 107-acre Michigan property.”
The article highlights the challenges faced when purchasing a shuttered golf course, the struggles and journey in returning a dormant golf course to playable conditions, and what possesses a family to make this decision.
