Team RickWorld continues on a reading roll with just six months to go in the Marcellus Library’s Read Through the Decades Challenge! The Challenge concludes at the library’s Noon Year’s Eve Party on December 31. Groups are asked to dress in the decade they reach by counting each book as one year. Team RickWorld could go with Jetsons gear or should we boldly go. . .
Justin Ware: Fever Beach by Carl Hiaasen. Satire that hits too close to reality. After reading this, I had to go read it’s #1 star reviews.
Katy Essex: The Space Between us by Melanie Summer. Fun Rom-Com, good characters, great dialogue/banter between the characters. Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. This is one of the best books I have ever read. At times it made me angry, it made me laugh, it made me cry. The story takes place from 1952-1962 in California with lead character Elizabeth Zott out to change the status quo for women. The Next Person You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. Mitch Albom is one of my favorite authors. He never fails to make me cry with his beautiful writing. I have yet to read a book of his that I haven’t loved. This is the sequel to “The Five People You Meet in Heaven.”
Sarah Essex: No Ordinary Time by Doris Kearns Goodwin. A very detailed and compelling book about the untraditional marriage of Eleanor and Franklin Rooselvelt and WWII.
Kay McAdam: Sorry, I’ve got nothing this week. . .
Until next time, keep reading! Kids Who Read Succeed!
