Team RickWorld Reads of the Week: July 7, 2025

July 8, 2025 By Marcellus News Leave a Comment

Team RickWorld continues on a reading roll with just six months to go in the Marcellus Library’s Read Through the Decades Challenge! The Challenge concludes at the library’s Noon Year’s Eve Party on December 31. Groups are asked to dress in the decade they reach by counting each book as one year. Team RickWorld could go with Jetsons gear or should we boldly go. . .

Justin Ware: Stranger in Time by David Baldacci. A great book.  In a World War II torn London, three strangers from completely different walks of life come together to help each other.

Katy Essex: Kane by Dick Wybrow. Hilarious spin on the werewolf story.  Story is about a wolf that is bitten by a man and turns into a human.  Every new moon phase he turns into a different dog.  I envision the actor Dave Bautista as the main character. The Key to Rebecca by Ken Follett. Interesting read.  Set in Egypt during WW2 about a Nazi spy and the British officer determined to catch him. Kane Unleashed by Dick Wybrow. Second book in the Kane and Emelda series. The Nightengale by Kristen Hannah. An incredible portrayal of two sisters and their tale of survival in German occupied France during WW2.  As with all Kristin Hannah books, have your kleenex handy.

Sarah Essex: Katy’s holding up Sarah’s end this week. . .

Kay McAdam:  Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab. Honestly, I really had no idea this was a vampire story until a few chapters in. Duh. Was I surprised when Maria chomped down on Sabine’s neck in what appeared, at first, to be a romantic embrace. It’s a centuries-spanning journey and, as the description states, is a story about hunger, story about love, and story about rage. This is a story about life—how it ends, and how it starts. Highly recommend on audio.

Until next time, keep reading! Kids Who Read Succeed!
