Members of the Marcellus VFW Post #4054 retired the United States flag at the Marcellus Elementary School and replaced it with a new one.
The ceremony was conducted by Vietnam veterans (left to right) Commander Hank Preis, Quartermaster Gary Troop, and Past Commander Larry Romig.
According to the Deparment of Defense, the American Legion passed a resolution about flag retirement ceremonies in 1937. Ceremonies are solemn, dignified events.
